How we’re making a difference
Chicane barrier removals
We are overseeing and funding the removal of chicane barriers from the town’s shared-use paths, to make these accessible to all legitimate users.
We have removed the majority of these chicane barriers from the existing cycle network, and are working to secure the removal of newly installed barriers on various new development cycleways.
Better cycling provision on new developments
Our constructive approach to working with councillors, developers, planners, highways development control engineers, has seen us secure a variety of improvements to the cycle provision on and around new developments, including:
- Lidl Pewsham
- Aldi Methuen Park
- Ambulance Station redevelopment
- Barrow Farm development
- Gate Farm development
- Esso Bath Road redevelopment
- Abbeyfield School
New and expanded cycle parking
We’ve added 80+ new cycle parking at numerous locations around the town, including:
- Town Bridge
- High Street (various locations)
- Chippenham cinema (opposite)
- New Road Post Office
- Station Hill Sainsbury’s
- Redland shops
- Lowden Hill shops
- Market Place One Stop shop
- The Bridge
Cepen Park North cycleway improvements
To create a continuous, car-free cycle link from Bumpers Farm through Cepen Park North to Morrisons, we have made a variety of signage and accessibility improvements.
These will tie in with the new cycle crossings being provided as part of the A350 works at Bumpers Farm.
Further improvements are in the pipeline to improve access to Sheldon and Hardenhuish Schools, and to create links onwards towards Birds Marsh.
